This was during my college days , i was requested to join a cake decorating competition for our annual skills Olympics, we only had 1 day to prepare for it.. NO practice, me and my team mates just discussed what we would do for our cake. The theme was a specialty cake, so we decided on making a wedding cake instead. with only just a few hours till the competition, we prepared our cakes and all our decorating needs. We were so nervous before the competition, with no design prepared, we just improvised. We had our game faces on, looking prepared. No one knew that we weren't ( haha POKER FACE) During the competition, the judges noticed us , they were intrigued by us, because we were the only team doing things traditionally. Unlike the other teams, we made our own hand piped flowers made from whipped cream, and leaves made out of chocolates. All the other teams just had pre-made decorations for their cake. We were all given an hour and a half to finish our cakes. Sadly, we hadn't finished ours, the judges insisted we finish our cake. I think they wanted to see how our cake fully decorated. After the judges deliberated, it was time to call out the winner. we thought , surely we wouldn't be the winners, but then , when the MC announced the winners, we were shocked to hear our names. Dang!! it felt really good. We were so happy that day :) and that was then i realized that, you get nothing for doing things the easy way, and without passion you get nothing..
